Euromaths course in Jyväskylä 2002

MATHEMATICS IN-SERVICE-COURSE WITH THE FOCUS ON EUROPEAN CITIZENSHIP

Arranged by Jyväskylä University , Department of Teacher Education and EU-funded Comenius 2.1 project Euromaths.

Objectives

The focus of the course is on the intercultural aspects of teaching. The participants will learn how mathematics and using the euro can help pupils to achieve the european citizenship, which is based on their national identity.

Methodology

The course includes mostly international workshops and some lectures. The focus of the course is on trainees' active participation and co-operative learning.

Outcomes

Participants will learn to use virtual learning environments in their teaching. They realise the importance of the common currency for european citizenship. The results of the course will be utilized when developing euromaths web pages.
