There are specialized laboratories and activities, managed by the technological operator and mostly by the local Sanitary Service. There are eight courses, called sections. Each section is formed by three classes: first, second and third class.

The pupils are 655 (from 11 to 14 years old). Four courses have five lessons a day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., 30 lessons a week, while the pupils attending the other four courses have lunch at school and the lessons finish at 4 p.m.. These last courses, called ‘tempo prolungato’, have 36 lessons a week with activities of laboratories and ‘open classes’.

The disable children are integrated with their luckier friends and take part in the common activities organized by the school team of teachers but specialised teachers lead them in individualized programms responding to the needs of each of them.

The social and cultural levels of the pupils attending the school is medium-high and they all are going to attend the secondary high schools after the third year. To meet their need the teacher’s team plans many activities in order to increase interests, promote aptitudes and help them in the choices for their future.
